Agglomeration slagging medium, process for preparing the slagging medium, agglomeration mixture for producing agglomerate and use of secondary metallurgy slags as slagging media for producing the agglomeration mixture um
The flux for slag-based agglomeration of secondary metallurgy comprises melted CaO, Al.sub.2.sub.3, SiO.sub.2, MgO, MnO, FeO and other eutectic-forming compounds, the setting temperature of which is less than 1600 degC and the total content of said oxides is greater than 75% by weight, wherein the CaO content is greater than 40% by weight and the sulfur content is less than 2.5%; grain size below 100 mm and optimally below 10 mm. In the method of producing flux for slag-based secondary metallurgy slag agglomeration, secondary metallurgical slags are gradually cooled at a cooling rate of at most 200 degC / hr down to a temperature below the freezing point where the slag disintegrates and eventually the remaining slag parts are converted to granulometry. so that at least 90% by weight of the resulting flux has a grain size below 100 mm and optimally 10 mm. The agglomeration mixture for producing the agglomerate to be charged to the blast furnace consists of a metal-bearing agglomeration charge and less than 10% by weight, optimally 0.5 to 1.5% by weight, of the total flux charge as determined above, the resulting agglomeration mixture contains less than 5% by weight of Al.sub.2.
