The surge voltage protector with exchangeable overvoltage protection module in single-pole or multipole arrangement according to the present invention, consists of U-shaped overvoltage protection base (5) adapted for insertion therein one, three or four exchangeable overvoltage protection modules (2). The exchangeable overvoltage protection module (2), having a visual signaling window (17) of thermal disconnecting switch, the visual signaling being executed by a visual signaling flexible strip (18), is provided on opposite sidewalls with C-shaped jacks (1) and a coding field (4) on one or both sidewalls (4) wherein the coding field (4) consists of projections and/or slots of rectangular shape and different profile, different width and length, which fit in corresponding slots and/or projections on one or both inner lateral sides of the U-shaped overvoltage protection base (5). The exchangeable overvoltage protection module (2) is provided in its lower portion with at least two alignment pilot pins (3), whereby manufacturing holes (6) are situated in the opposite positions of the U-shaped overvoltage protection base (5) while in opposite positions to the jacks (1) in the U-shaped overvoltage protection base, there are situated U-shaped contact sockets (7). At the same time, the exchangeable overvoltage protection (2) is provided with a thermal disconnecting switch located on a fixing body (11) of the exchangeable overvoltage protection (2) case.
