The present invention relates to an apparatus for transporting and changing the positions of at least two workpieces (W; W1 - W4) between forming stages (I, II) optionally in forming stages (I, II) of a forming system (1), comprising a traverse member (9) that can be moved between the forming stages (I, II), a first beam (10), movable relative to the traverse member (9), for a first holding apparatus (10a) for the first workpiece (W; W1), and a second beam (11) for a second holding apparatus (11a) for the second workpiece (W; W2), said second beam being also movable with respect to the traverse member (9) wherein the second beam (11) can be moved by the first beam (10). The motion of the first beam (10) is convertible through the mediation of transfer means (27) to the motion of the second beam (11), wherein the transfer means (27) are performed particularly as a transmission mechanism (28), and wherein the motion of the second beam (11) differs from the motion of the first beam (10), especially as far as the motion trajectory and/or the motion direction and/or direction of rotation is concerned.
