Use of cellulose acetate-based film for preparing impression of tooth enamel surface and method of determining lesions on the tooth enamel surface

The method of determining lesions on the tooth enamel surface according to the present invention is based on the use of a cellulose acetate-based film intended for making impression of the tooth enamel surface. The impression of the tooth enamel surface is subjected to optical microscopy in combination with image digitization through the mediation of a CCD camera and the thus obtained snapshots are then quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated by the use of a computer analysis of a snapshot. The invention makes it possible to find carious lesions already at a time at which the tooth would seem even after investigation by means of so far best clinical means to be quite intact.
