The method involves filling a first tank container (40A) i.e. spreading material container (3), with liquid i.e. brine, until a first movement at which the liquid filled in the first container starts to flow via a liquid pipe (50) into a second tank container i.e. auxiliary tank (10). The second container is filled with the liquid until a second movement at which the liquid filled in the second container starts to flow via the pipe into the first container. The first container is filled with the liquid from the second container through the pipe subsequent to the second movement. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for emptying a liquid tank of a distribution device for winter service vehicles (2) a distribution device for a winter service vehicle.
