Method for automatically generating a three-dimensional reference model as terrain information for an imaging device

The method involves pre-determining position data of an imaging device at a planned position, and direction vector of the planned position of the imaging device at a pre-determined target point in a three-dimensional terrain model. A three dimensional reference model of the terrain model is produced such that each model elements e.g. lines, and sections of the model elements are transferred from the terrain model to the reference model. The model elements are not covered by other model elements in a vision direction of the vector and/or not found outside a visible field of the device.
