There is disclosed a method of treating a disease associated with increased levels of chemokine CXCLl7 is provided. The method includes administering to a subject in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a substance that lowers the level of CXCLl7 activity. The substance that lowers the level ofCXCLl7 activity can be an antiCXCLl7 antibody, which can be a monoclonal antibody. In other embodiments, the substance can be an antisense compound targeting CXCLl7, which can be an antisense oligonucleotide or an siRNA. In another aspect, a method of treating a tumor in a subject in need of such treatment is provided as well as a method of diagnosing a disease associated with increased levels of chemokine CXCL17.
