摘要

The present invention describes the functional activity of the extracellular saccharides produced during the mycelial growth of the fungus Ganoderma lucidum (Cut.: Fr.) Karst 1981. The strain was molecularly identified by using the inner transcription region (ITR) of the DNA. The oligosaccharides and polysaccharides were produced under controlled conditions in liquid fermentations with constant agitation and temperature in a flask, using a specific culture medium. These oligosaccharides have an anticonvulsant activity when these are administered at concentrations of 10 to 40 mg/Kg, inhibiting convulsions after the treatment with kainic acid, also presenting a functional activity as neuroprotective agents, preventing neuronal cells from being damaged; in addition, these oligosaccharides do not present any toxic effect at any concentration.
