The invention refers to a method from moving backwards a combination (10, 11) and to an assembly for assisting the backward movement of a combination (10, 11) into an area (20) which might be surrounded by obstacles (21). The combination (10, 11) comprises a propelled vehicle (10) and an implement (11). The implement (11) can pivot with respect to the vehicle (10). The vehicle (10) moves the combination (10, 11) backwards. A pivoting angle sensor (6) on board of the combination (10, 11) measures the pivoting angle of the implement with respect to the vehicle. A distance sensor (3.1, 3.2, ...) on board of the implement (11) measures the distance to a border (21) of the area (20). A path sensor (15) on board of the implement (11) measures the length of a path along which the implement (11) is moved. A computer (16) on board of the implement (11) calculates a required change of the travelling direction of the vehicle (10) by using the pivoting angle, the path length, and the measured distance. A signal indicative of the required change is transmitted to an output unit.
