Ear protection to be fastened to a protective helmet, particularly for forestry workers

Ear and hearing protection for a protective helmet (30) that can swing up into the helmet when not in use are disclosed. The helmet is in particular useful for forestry workers. The ear protection consists of an ear protection device (34a, 34b) on each side. Each ear protection device has a supporting strap (37a, 37b) which is designed in the manner of a fork and has an ear protection capsule (35a, 35b) mounted pivotably thereon. A rotary plate is connected to the supporting strap by a tilting joint and in relation to which the supporting strap can be bi-stably tilted into a swung-out and a swung-in position. The rotary plate is mounted rotatably in a receiving part (Fig 5:80a, 80b) attached to the inside of the helmet. A strap spring arranged between the rotary plate and the supporting strap causes the supporting strap to bear against stops which fix the swung-out and the swung-in position of the supporting strap. The ear protection devices can therefore be rotated into a parking position within the helmet (See Fig 4).
