ALTERNATIVE NATURAL DYE FROM PHILIPPINE TEAK LEAVES

A process of dyeing treated and untreated fabric using Natural dye from Philippine teak leaves (Tectona Philippinensis) comprising steps of collecting and chopping Philippine teak leaves; weighing 1kg of the chopped teak leaves; extracting natural dye from the teak leaves in a steam bath of 30 liters of tap waters for 3 hours; filtering the extracted dye using a strainer; set aside; pretreating the fabric by scouring and bleaching for 30 minutes with frequent stirring to remove impurities; mordanting of pre-treated and untreated fabric by immersing the fabric in different mordant solutions; boiling the immersed fabric with mordant solution for 30 minutes with frequent stirring; cooling the mordanted fabric; squeezing the cooled fabric; air-drying un-rinsed squeezed fabric; dyeing separately the mordanted pre-treated and untreated fabric by boiling said fabric with predetermined amount of crude extract from teak leaves for 30 minutes; removing the dyed fabric from the dye extract; rinsing the dyed fabric with tap water and; air-drying the rinsed dyed fabric.
