The invention describes a method for producing a friction lining after which a friction paper is mixed with a latex made of an elastomer and then fibers of the friction paper are joined together by precipitation of the elastomer from the latex. The non-surfactant protective colloid is added to the latex as suspending aid before application to the friction paper.
