The invention relates to the treatment of livestock waste and, in particular, liquids, such as those from pig farms (pig purines), in order to separate and recover fertiliser material contained therein in the form of a concentrate or solid product, for use as a fertiliser which can be transported to remote agricultural areas once the water has been separated by vaporisation. The invention also relates to the treatment of the water thus separated and to the recycling thereof in the process, providing a "zero waste" process and producing a considerable water consumption saving.
