Calorimeter differential and method for measuring the absorption rate specified magnetic colloids. # The present invention relates to a differential calorimeter and method for determining the specific absorption rate (SAR) of magnetic colloids subjected to an electromagnetic field , for use in therapy by magnetic hyperthermia and characterization of magnetic materials. The differential calorimeter comprises two containers (1) and (2) thermally insulated, in which a magnetic colloid suspension is introduced. One is placed in a computer generation of electromagnetic fields, and on the other a resistor (6) is immersed. Two temperature sensors (3) and (4) measuring the temperature difference of both colloids and with a control system (5) and another power amplifier (7) feeding the resistor (6), are maintained both to same temperature. The power dissipated in the resistance is the same as the dissipated by the magnetic colloid subjected to the electromagnetic field.
