A method of determining the prognosis of a subject with pancreatic cancer, comprising measuring the level of at least one miR gene product in a test sample of said subject, wherein: the miR gene product is associated with an adverse prognosis in the pancreatic cancer; and an increase in the level of the at least one miR gene product in the test sample, relative to the level of a corresponding miR gene product in a control sample, is indicative of an adverse prognosis where the at least one miR gene product it's miR-21.
