A method for preparing a coral scaffold or coral biomatrix seeded with precursor cells to induce or enhance bone and / or cartilage formation, wherein the method comprises sowing a coral scaffold or coral biomatrix with precursor cells in culture in presence of a calcium chelator for a period of time sufficient to sow said coral scaffold or coral biomatrix, with the proviso that the precursor cells are not human embryonic stem cells.
