An alloy with a high capacity glass formation, consisting of Zn and Al in an amount of 40 to less than 64.7 atom%, Mg in an amount of more than 35 to 59.7 atom%, and Ca an amount of 0.3 to 15 atom%, and optionally one or more elements selected from Au, Ag, Cu, and Ni in a total amount of 0.1 to 7 atomic%, wherein the content of Zn is greater than the Al content.
