A circuit is provided for monitoring harmonic distortionin the power supply of a synchronous electrical machine withpermanent magnet excitation. The monitoring circuit isconfigured for obtaining at least one signal representativeof the current in a first winding of a stator and at leastone signal representative of the current in a second windingof the stator. The monitoring circuit further has acircuit for generating synchronizing pulses reflecting theelectrical frequency of rotation of a rotor relative to thestator; a unit for determining a signal representative of thecurrent in a third winding of the stator; a set of band-stopnotch filters receiving the signals representative of the currentsin the first, second, and third windings, and each representing acenter frequency that is servo-controlled to the electricalfrequency fn of rotation of the rotor, in order to reject theharmonic corresponding to the electrical frequency of rotationof the rotor relative to the stator.
