In certain embodiments, the invention is directed to a method for treating aprotein folding disorder such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson'sdisease, Huntington's disease and prion-based spongiform encephalopathy. Themethod comprises the administration to a subject of a compound of the formula(I) wherein A and B are independently a mono- or bicyclic aromatic group orheteroaromatic cyclic group. In preferred embodiments, the compounds are bis-indole compounds.
