UTILIZATION OF THE NOVEL, ENVIRONMENTAL ISOPSEUDOMONAS SP. IPB-A36 FOR THE EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF MCL.LCL-PHAS AND SPECIALTY-PHAS

The present application is directed at a microorganism of the genusPseudomonasas deposited under DSM26198 with the Leibnitz Institute DSMZ. The presentapplication is further directed at a process for the production of medium- andlong-chain PHAs, comprising cultivating said microorganism in a culture mediumcomprising a carbon source and isolating the PHA from the microorganism. Ithasbeen observed that the microorganism allows for PHA production in high yield.Inaddition, the inventive microorganism possesses the valuable capability toefficiently incorporate unsaturated and/or aromatically modified fatty acidsintothe resulting PHAs. Accordingly, the inventive microorganism enables theproduction of chemically diverse PHAs, opening new fields of applications forthese materials.
