A flat die for a pellet press for producing pellets, preferably from biomass, for use as combustible material in burners, the biomass consisting of cellulosic and/or lignocellulosic fibers, shavings or chips, has a plurality of bores arranged on at least two hole circles to form an annular running surface. Each hole circle has the same number of bores. For each bore of a hole circle an adjacent bore is set off about an angle 2α , and for each bore of a hole circle at least one bore set off by an angle α is arranged on an adjacent hole circle.The invention further relates to a pellet press and to a method for producing a flat die.
