Disclosed are an overvoltage online monitoring system and method based on a full impact current of a lightning arrester. The system comprises a front-end sensor, a USB high-speed data acquisition card, a USB optical fibre transmission system and a computer recording and displaying system which are connected in sequence, wherein the front-end sensor is arranged at a node of the lightning arrester of a substation and used for acquiring the impact current of the lightning arrester in real time; the USB high-speed data acquisition card acquires an electrical signal output by the front-end sensor in real time, and transmits the electrical signal to the computer recording and displaying system through the USB optical fibre transmission system; and the computer recording and displaying system computes the voltage of the node of the lightning arrester according to the obtained impact current and wave head time of the lightning arrester, and displays same. The system of the present invention can effectively monitor the overvoltage in a power system without the need for the measures of adding a device into the power system, changing the structure of the device or adopting a sleeve tap with special design and the like, and meets the requirement for secure and reliable operation of the power system.
