The present invention reduces signal pulse detection failures and the deterioration of detection accuracy of the signal pulse area even when the signal pulse output by a photodetector and the timing of A/D conversion are asynchronous. A signal pulse detector (101) is provided with an amplifier (106), an A/D converter (107), a data interpolator (108), a threshold processor (109), and a light quantity calculator (110). The amplifier (106) amplifies the signal pulse output by the photodetector (105). The A/D converter (107) samples the signal pulse amplified by the amplifier (106). The data interpolator (108) generates interpolation data for interpolating the sampling data sampled by the A/D converter (107). The threshold processor (109) compares the interpolation data output from the data interpolator (108) and the sampling data with a threshold value, and deletes data below the threshold value. The light quantity calculator (110) calculates the quantity of light from the interpolation data and sampling data output from the threshold processor (109).
