The initial development model is skin coloured (5), targeting Medium, white to light brown, which is 11-15 on the Von Luschan's chromatic scale. The patch is made of water resistant and water repellent Polyurethane (PUR and PU), which is a polymer composed of a chain of organic units joined by carbamate (urethane) links. (2). The main active element is physical zinc oxide (3), which will reflect and scatter the suns UVB and UVA rays. The patch will also utilise zinc oxide based adhesives (6).
