In order to plan an energy distribution network (EVN) for a system (20) with a plurality of energy loads (Mi), a method (100) has the following steps: generating (110) time-dependent load profiles (Li) of the energy loads (Mi), generating (120) time-dependent power profiles (Pi) of the energy loads (Mi), generating (130) a network plan (NP) for the energy distribution network (EVN), calculating (140) a time-dependent power profile (P20) of the system (20), and dimensioning (150) network components (Ki) of the energy distribution network (EVN) while taking into consideration the calculated time-dependent power requirements (Pi) for the network components (Ki). Accordingly, a tool (10) comprises the following components in order to plan an energy distribution network (EVN): a load calculating tool (LBW) for generating load profiles (Li) of the energy loads (Mi), a power consumption calculating tool (PBW) for generating time-dependent power profiles (Pi) of the energy loads (Mi) and a power profile (P20) of the system (20), and a network dimensioning tool (NDW) for dimensioning and selecting network components (Ki) of the energy distribution network (EVN).
