The invention relates to a method (200) for producing an emergency brake signal for a vehicle. Said vehicle comprises a main brake device and a drive device. Said method (200) is characterized in that it comprises the following steps, the first step (210) being recognizing a vehicle emergency situation which represents a reduced or impeded braking effect of the main brake device, using at least one inputted sensor signal and a step (220) of generating the emergency brake signal in accordance with the detected vehicle emergency situation. The main brake device, the drive device, an auxiliary brake device and/or at least one additional electrical device of the vehicle can be controlled by means of the emergency brake signal in order to activate or to support an emergency braking process of the vehicle.
