The invention concerns a method for producing zinc finger proteins configured in series, by ligating peptides in individual zinc fingers which are artificially constructed and generated by synthesis. Said zinc finger proteins can bind specifically to double-stranded DNA sections of corresponding length, and can for example be used as probes on a double-stranded DNA in liquid phase, or on surfaces, by means of an additional functionality (such as fluorophor, biotin).
