The method involves acquiring backscattered signal on a visual axis (X4) that is separated from other axes (X1-X3). The backscattered signal is calculated on the visual axis. Candidate speed vectors are calculated. Projections of the candidate speed vectors are calculated on the visual axis. A coherence of the candidate vectors is calculated based on the projection on an axis of calculation and according to a spectrum of the signal. A measured speed vector (V) is selected from the candidate vectors by making an analysis of probability from coherences of the candidate vectors.
