POWER CONSUMPTION REDUCTION METHOD, WI-FI MASTER CONTROLLER, AND WI-FI GATEWAY

Disclosed are a power consumption reduction method, a Wi-Fi master controller, and a Wi-Fi gateway. The method comprises: a Wi-Fi master controller monitoring data traffic in a Wi-Fi chip; and if the Wi-Fi master controller determining that the data traffic in specified duration is less than a threshold, controlling the Wi-Fi master controller to enter a dormant state. In embodiments of the present invention, data traffic in a Wi-Fi chip is monitored, so as to determine a vacancy rate of a Wi-Fi master controller at this time, and if the vacancy rate is high, the Wi-Fi master controller is made to enter an energy-saving dormant state and is not disconnected from a client at the same time, so that not only the purpose of energy saving is achieved but also a user does not need to connect to a Wi-Fi gateway again when using Wi-Fi gateway again; therefore, the present invention well solves a contradiction between standby duration and convenience and rapidness to connect to a client.
