Device for reading consumer values and communication method

The device (1) has a consumption value detection unit (2) e.g. water meter, gas meter, heat meter and current meter, and units e.g. data detection units and control units, connected with a central unit (4) by a meter bus data interface (M-bus) (3). The detection unit is connected with the M-bus by a communication unit (5), data transmission line (8), data receiving line (9) and energy supply line (7). The communication unit monitors communication of the M-bus and forwards to the detection unit, where the detection unit is galvanically separated (6) from the communication unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for communicating a consumption value reading device.
