ANTIFOAMING AGENT, PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING ANTIFOAMING AGENT, AND METHOD FOR INHIBITING FORMATION OF FOAM

Provided are: an antifoaming agent which exhibits excellent antifoaming effect even in a high-temperature system susceptible to foaming; a process for manufacturing an antifoaming agent; and a method for inhibiting the formation of foam. This antifoaming agent contains both a higher alcohol having 12 to 30 carbon atoms and a wax having a melting point of 90ºC or higher, and has an O/W type emulsion structure. This process for manufacturing an antifoaming agent includes a step for preparing, under a pressure condition exceeding 1.0atm, an O/W type emulsion which contains both a higher alcohol having 12 to 30 carbon atoms and a wax having a melting point of 90ºC or higher. This method for inhibiting the formation of foam in a system susceptible to foaming includes a step for adding, to the system, an antifoaming agent which contains both a higher alcohol having 12 to 30 carbon atoms and a wax having a melting point higher than the temperature of the system and which has an O/W type emulsion structure.
