In order to provide a stocking that has an effect of cutting UV light and that enables this effect to be visually confirmed, a photochromic fiber for a stocking in which a fiber (X) and a fiber (Y) are twisted together is used, the fiber (X) comprising a polyamide fiber or a polyurethane fiber and the fiber (Y) containing a polyolefin resin and a photochromic material. This photochromic fiber for a stocking can be manufactured by a method having a step for mixing the photochromic material and a part of the polyolefin resin and obtaining a master batch, a step for mixing the master batch and the remainder of the polyolefin resin and spinning the mixture to obtain the fiber (Y), and a step for twisting the fiber (X) and the fiber (Y) together.
