Disclosed is a method for protecting eyesight for a device having a display, comprising the steps of: (1) acquiring the angle of a user looking at the display via a first infrared transmitter and a second infrared transmitter of the device to obtain visual angle data (11); and (2) judging whether the visual angle data is within a preset safe range (12), if yes, then controlling the display to normally display (13), and if not, then initiating a corresponding protection reminder (14). The method can accurately collect the visual angle data of a user and can give the user a corresponding protection reminder to better protect eyesight; moreover, the operation is simple and convenient, enabling the user to get a more comfortable and effective user's experience.
