The present invention relates to a facial image analysis method using a local micro-pattern, which can generate a recognition code for ignoring a corresponding edge response or can generate a recognition code which is encoded by assigning color information of a corresponding pixel when edge response direction information of a coefficient selected in consideration of an edge response size is not an effective edge area. Accordingly, the present invention can generate a recognition code for ignoring an edge response of a corresponding pixel or can generate a recognition code for assigning a color information code of a corresponding pixel after sorting the pixel having high uncertainty in a smooth area which has little change in a pixel brightness value through an application of a local direction pattern (LDP) algorithm, and thereby can increase recognition rates for facial recognition and facial expression recognition without generating a vulnerable code having high uncertainty, minimize a code length, and improve ability for distinguishing facial features.
