The purpose of the present invention is to provide a technique for assisting in the appropriate setting of a RF pre-pulse application region so that intended effects are obtained and high quality images can be obtained regardless of the magnetic field strength of the apparatus. For said purpose, the present invention assists in setting the RF pre-pulse application region so that the shift in RF pre-pulse application region due to chemical shifting does not affect the imaging region. The assistance is accomplished by indicating to the user the direction in which the fat signal excitation region shifts due to chemical shifting when the imaging region and RF pre-pulse application region are set on a positioning image.
