VIDEO CONFERENCING WITH IMPROVED BANDWIDTH EFFICIENCY OVER WIRELESS DISPLAY (WIDI) CHANNEL

Generally, this disclosure provides devices, systems and methods for video conferencing with improved bandwidth efficiency using a WiDi system that provides display rendering and peripheral sharing capability, to a user platform, over a wireless local area network. A mobile platform may include a processor, a memory coupled to the processor and a video conference application module coupled to the processor. The platform may also include a network client driver module to provide communication over the WiDi channel between the video conference application and a WiDi adapter. The platform may further include a video descriptor configuration module to provide filtered video descriptors to the video conference application. The filtered video descriptors are based on a list of video descriptors provided by a USB camera coupled to the WiDi adapter and transmitted over the WiDi channel, wherein the filtering removes video descriptors associated with uncompressed video formats.
