摘要
In an embodiment, a culture process or sequence for regenerating plants of genera Elaeis through somatic embryogenesis includes exposing tissue corresponding to a young inflorescence explant (e.g., tissue associated with one or more of a second to a sixteenth leaf frond from a terminal bud of a genera Elaeis plant stem) to a first medium that includes an auxin (e.g., 2,4-D) and a demethylating agent (e.g., 5-AzaC at a concentration of less than about 130 μΜ); obtaining a first developmental tissue (e.g., portions of one or more spikelets) from the tissue exposed to the first medium; separating the first developmental tissue from other tissue exposed to the first medium; exposing the separated first developmental tissue to one of the first medium and a compositional equivalent to the first medium; obtaining a second developmental tissue (e.g., portions of one or more floral tips corresponding to long florets) from the separated first developmental tissue; separating the second developmental tissue from the separated first developmental tissue; and exposing the separated second developmental tissue to a second medium that includes an auxin and which excludes a demethylating agent. Such a process can induce globular somatic embryos within less than approximately 52 weeks from culture initiation at which time the tissue corresponding to the young inflorescence explant was initially exposed to the first medium.
