This dope composition contains an acrylic resin with a weight-average molecular weight of 250,000 or greater and an additive with a weight-average molecular weight of less than 50,000; the acrylic resin contains a methyl methacrylate unit (a) and, at a mass fraction of less than 5 mass%, an alkyl (meth)acrylate unit (b) other than methyl methacrylate. The dope composition has excellent suitability for production in having a fast drying speed, having a high elongation at break when forming an unstretched film, and a capable of suppressing breaking during stretching; in manufacturing a polarizing plate protective film, the dope composition results in a low haze value, good surface properties, and good heat resistance. Also provided are a polarizing plate protective film, a polarizing plate protective film manufacturing method, a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device.
