The invention relates to a method and dose in the administration of drugs for the conscious sedation of a patient, for use in surgery, including, inter alia, endoscopic spine surgery, as well as other applications inside or outside the operating theatre using biofeedback or communication with the patient. In surgery, including, inter alia, endoscopic spine surgery or similar, and applications inside and outside the operating theatre, conscious sedation gives the surgeon greater control over risks, for example the risk of causing damage to the spine or other organs or parts of the patient who is awake and thus capable of communication, something that does not currently occur in operations using general anaesthetic, surgery, including, inter alia, endoscopic spine surgery or similar, and applications inside and outside the operating theatre.
