An aqueous electrolyte sodium ion secondary battery containing: a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material and a positive electrode accumulator which holds the positive electrode active material; a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material and a negative electrode accumulator which holds the negative electrode active material; an aqueous electrolyte including sodium ions and water; and a solid electrolyte which blocks the positive electrode and/or the negative electrode from the water in the aqueous electrolyte, and which exhibits sodium ion conductivity.
