- A method for predicting the amount and composition of the fluids produced by inorganic reactions operating in a sedimentary basin, and trapped with the hydrocarbons in the reservoirs.; - acquisition of geological basin characteristics and constructing a representation of the basin by a mesh. Then, one calculates, for at least a set of cells of the mesh, and using a model basin and geological data, changing the following parameters: a drilling depth (z), a temperature (T) , pore pressure (P), volume (V) and a porosity (Φ) at successive ages (t i) representative of the geological history of the basin. Is determined in each cell of the set of cells, a mineralogical or chemical composition of rock from the geological basin. Finally, it determines the amount and the fluid composition of mineral origin within the set of cells, by means of a geochemical model and an equation of state, from said parameters, of said composition, and a thermodynamic database.
