A camera apparatus is provided including a curved sensor configured as an array of mini-sensors arranged to form a curved surface. An objective lens is mounted on a camera enclosure and a plurality of mini-sensors is disposed within said camera enclosure. An optical separator element comprising a plurality of lens segments is disposed between the objective lens and the curved sensor array for splitting the captured image emerging from said objective lens and refocusing the splits sections onto the individual mini-sensors. Each of the plurality of mini-sensors has an output connected to a signal processor for image processing.
