Provided are a multi-pole permanent magnet electric motor for shallow water and a shallow water type submersible pump using same. The permanent magnet electric motor comprises an electric motor housing and provided in an inner cavity of the electric motor housing are a stator (1), a rotor (2) and a rotor shaft (3) fixed to the rotor (2) and extending out of the electric motor housing. The electric motor housing is integrally provided, in the inner cavity, with a sealed oil chamber (4), and the rotor shaft (3) passes through the oil chamber (4); and the stator (1) and the rotor (2) are arranged radially with respect to the oil chamber (4). The layout of the permanent magnet electric motor and a submersible pump using the permanent magnet electric motor are overall more compact, and of reduced volume, the stator (1) and the rotor (2) can effectively aid in the cooling of an end face of the electric motor housing, and the working water level of the submersible pump can be reduced, making it suitable for shallow water work sites.
