A component of an electric barrier, an electric barrier system for animals in the water environment, a system and a method for controlling the movement of animals in the water environment, applicable as a protective barrier in the bodies of water in places dangerous for animal life, e.g. at the inlet to the power plant turbines, water intakes, and in places where a particular path of movement of animals is preferred, e.g. in the direction of the entrance of the fish pass. A component of an electric barrier (4) in the form of a vertical element (7) floating in the water consisting of at least one buoyancy element (9) and at least one electrode element (10) supplied by a power supply cable (16), is characterized in that at least one buoyancy element (9), and at least one electrode element (10) are slidably mounted to the support cable (14), extended by a service cable attached to it on the top, wherein in its submerged position, the uppermost buoyancy element (9) is locked to the support cable (14) with locking means (8), wherein the power supply cable (16) supplying at least the lowermost part of the electrode element (10) has a redundant section (18). Moreover the system for controlling the movement of animals in the water environment is characterized in that between said behavioural barrier (4) components and a natural backwater or an artificial object limiting the T area of the aquatic environment there is at least one source (22) of mechanical and/or light wave.
