A method includes maintaining a computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) model (208) in a CAM environment (202) and numerically-controlled (NC) program (210) for an NC machine (212) that corresponds to the CAM model. The method receiving (302) a modification to the NC program in an NC system interface (204) and automatically identifying (306) a geometry of the CAM model that corresponds to the modification and linking the identified geometry to the modification. The method includes automatically modifying (310) the CAM model according to the modification to the NC program to produce an updated CAM model (404) and automatically generating (314) an updated NC program according to the updated CAM model. The method includes displaying (318), in the NC system interface, a preview (504) corresponding to the updated NC program.
