RIGID QUINOXALINE CAVITANDS AS MOLECULAR RECEPTORS FOR THE DETECTION OF AROMATIC COMPOUNDS IN THE AIR

The invention relates to rigid quinoxaline cavitands of formula (I)wherein R' is chosen from -CH₂- and -CH₂-CH₂-;R is a C₁-C₂₀ linear or branched alkyl chain, not substituted or substituted with a group chosen from: an olefin, acetylenic, alcoholic, azidic, phosphonic or acid group. The quinoxaline cavitands according to the invention are used for making adsorbent fibres and/or cartridges for the selective determination of atmospheric pollutants such as Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl benzene and Xylene in the air (BTEX). The pollutants selectively adsorbed on the fibres and/or cartridges are then analysed through gas chromatographic analysis.
