The invention relates to an assembly for installation in the interior of rail vehicles, in particular local transit vehicles in the form of low-floor or high-floor vehicles such as streetcars, city trains, or metros, comprising a car body, which in itself is divided at least partially into different car-structure units such as an end car region, a region over the bogies, and a region between the bogies. The aforementioned regions are provided by independent modules separated by joints and transitions or are designed as continuous, rigidly connected units, wherein the car body (2) has an underframe (3) having a wheel case and/or elevations due to at least one step for low-floor vehicles and neither of the two for high-floor vehicles.
