The invention provides core bodies with an alignment structure in order to allow, in the manufacture of magnetic cores, alignment independent of manufacturing tolerances in which the manufacturing tolerances are compensated. In illustrative embodiments, a core body of ferromagnetic material has a transverse yoke with an aspect ratio of length to width greater than 1 and at least one core leg extending laterally away from the transverse yoke along an extending direction thereof. Further, an alignment recess is formed in a rear surface of the cross yoke disposed on a side of the cross yoke opposite to the core legs. A magnetic core is formed of core bodies, wherein at least one core body is provided with an alignment recess and the core bodies are aligned relative to each other.
