The present invention provides a method for reducing paging load and a mobile communications system for the same, wherein the method can reduce paging load when a base station control device (for example, BSC, MME, and so on) pages base stations (eNB) for a call reception service. According to the present invention, the method for reducing paging load includes: a step in which a base station control device transmits a paging message to a representative base station (eNB) of each paging area (TA), if traffic is generated to idle user equipment in an IP network; and a step in which each representative eNB relays the paging message to other eNBs in the same TA.
