The present invention relates to a failover method in a system using a diameter protocol and a system performing the same. A failover method in a system using a diameter protocol according to the present invention includes the steps of: transmitting a message from a source node to a first target node; receiving no responses to the message or receiving an error message of the first target node by the source node; searching for a second target node, which performs the same operation as that of the first target node, with reference to a routing table of the source node; and transmitting a message from the source node to the second target node.
